In 1946 Frederick William Westmore and his son Maurice formed
a partnership to sell fresh produce grown in the outer Eastern
suburbs in the Queen Victoria Market. More than 50 years later "Westmores" are still selling Apples, Pears, Stonefruit and
a range of niche products from their Melbourne Market Sites.
Maurice has seen the transition from bi-weekly "sleepovers" at the Vic to seven days per week trading and supplying the
array of Customers whose Businesses have evolved over more than half
a Century.
"Westmores " was owned and operated by Mauries' daughter Jennifer Dunn and her husband Ian Dunn until late September 2005 when they handed the reins over to Philip Nash who had been employed by the Company as their Sales Manager over a 15 year period.
Philip "inherited" the majority of the Westmore staff and has blended a "business as usual "'philosphy with his own ideas as to how the Company can expand it's operation in an increasingly competitive trading environment.
Our Company was, is and will continue to be a Market
Trader serving sales outlets and suppliers from all over Australia and overseas as well as Customers
throughout Victoria and interstate. As things progress it shall be developing strategic alliances with growers and packing sheds and developing products to expand our sales base and develop trading relationships overseas. In 2007 the Company became involved in a strategic partnership with a company Aussie Cherries Ltd which is developing a substantial cherry orchard in southeren Tasmania as Tasmanian Premium Cherries and such alignments are the precursor for future marketing and growing initiatives.
The traditional values of direct dealing and matching commitment
with undertakings are indelibly etched in the Westmore mission
statement. Our approach is modern but the values are not clouded
by the technology we have adopted to keep pace with modern
trends and customer needs.
Mission Statement
To convert all the warm and fuzzy things everybody feels obliged to pledge and espouse in their propaganda, into deeds that lead to positive and fair trading outcomes at all levels at which we do business whether with our staff, our suppliers, our customers or those incidental to the operations.
